A bright, approachable mezcal from Oaxaca, made in the traditional way.
What it is
Convite Esencial is a joven (unaged) mezcal made from Espadín agave, bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV) in a 750 ml bottle.
Where and how it's made
- Produced in Oaxaca, Mexico, the heartland of traditional mezcal
- Agave hearts are roasted in earthen pits over wood, then crushed and fermented naturally
- Distilled in small batches and bottled unaged as a joven mezcal
- Made from Espadín, the most widely used agave for mezcal
Tasting notes
- Nose: roasted agave, citrus and soft smoke
- Palate: fresh and balanced, with sweet agave, green herbs and gentle smoke
- Finish: clean, with lingering smoke and citrus
Serving and pairing
Sip neat with orange slices and sal de gusano, or mix into a mezcal margarita, Paloma or Negroni. Pairs with mole, tlayudas and grilled meats. Store the bottle upright in a cool, dark place, away from direct sunlight and heat.
