Big smoke meets rich sherry: Uigeadail is a powerful, full-strength Islay classic.
What it is
Ardbeg Uigeadail (pronounced 'Oog-a-dal') is an Islay single malt Scotch whisky bottled at 108.4 proof (54.2% ABV) in a 750 ml bottle. It is named after the loch that supplies the distillery's water.
Where and how it's made
- Distilled at the Ardbeg distillery on the island of Islay, Scotland, founded in 1815
- Made from heavily peated malted barley
- Bottled non-chill-filtered for a fuller texture
- A vatting of whisky matured in ex-bourbon casks and ex-sherry casks
Tasting notes
- Nose: peat smoke, raisins, Christmas cake and leather
- Palate: rich and full, with smoky toffee, dried fruit, honey and spice
- Finish: very long, with smoke and sweet sherry
Serving and pairing
Sip it neat or with a splash of water to open it up. Pairs with smoked meats, aged gouda, fruitcake and dark chocolate.
