A bright, bartender-built highland blanco made for great margaritas.
What it is
Olmeca Altos Plata is an unaged 100% agave tequila bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV). Tequila Altos was developed together with bartenders to make a quality tequila for mixing, and it is produced from agave grown in the Los Altos highlands of Jalisco, where cooler temperatures and red clay soils give sweeter, fruitier agave. Bottled straight after distillation, the Plata shows off fresh agave, citrus and herbal notes.
Where and how it's made
- 100% blue Weber agave from the Los Altos highlands of Jalisco, Mexico
- Part of the agave is crushed with a traditional tahona stone wheel
- Created with input from bartenders and a Mexican master distiller
- Unaged blanco (plata), bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV)
Tasting notes
- Nose: cooked agave, lime zest and fresh herbs
- Palate: bright and slightly sweet, with citrus, green pepper and agave
- Finish: clean and crisp, with a light peppery finish
Serving and pairing
The go-to for a classic margarita, Paloma or tequila and soda, and smooth enough to sip chilled with a lime wedge. Pairs with fish tacos, guacamole, ceviche and grilled shrimp. Store the bottle upright in a cool, dark place, away from direct sunlight and heat.
