A bourbon made to the 1897 rulebook: one distilling season, one distillery, aged in a bonded warehouse and bottled at exactly 100 proof.
What it is
1792 Bottled in Bond is a Kentucky straight bourbon at 100 proof (50% ABV) in a 750 ml bottle. Under the Bottled-in-Bond Act it must be aged at least four years under government supervision.
Where and how it's made
- Distilled and aged at Barton 1792 Distillery in Bardstown, Kentucky, the town's oldest fully operating distillery
- Made from the brand's high-rye bourbon recipe
- Every barrel in the batch was filled during the same distilling season
Tasting notes
- Nose: caramel apple, vanilla and black pepper with a touch of fresh mint
- Palate: bold rye spice over charred oak, brown sugar and a hint of coffee
- Finish: medium-long and peppery, with cherry and a light licorice note
Serving and pairing
Strong enough to stand up in an Old Fashioned or Manhattan, and still smooth enough to sip on a large cube. Try it with barbecue ribs, smoked sausage or a slice of apple pie.
