A rounder, richer cognac with mellow fruit and toasted oak, ideal for sipping or a fine cocktail.
What it is
Courvoisier VSOP is a Very Superior Old Pale cognac bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV) in a 750 ml bottle. VSOP cognac is aged at least four years in French oak, for more depth and smoothness than a VS.
Where and how it's made
- Made in the Cognac region of France and aged in the cellars of Jarnac, on the Charente river
- Distilled twice in copper pot stills from white Ugni Blanc grapes
- Courvoisier was founded in 1809 and is famously linked with Napoleon, whose silhouette appears on the label
- A Fine Champagne cognac, blended from the Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne growing areas
Tasting notes
- Nose: ripe peach, spring flowers and toasted almond
- Palate: rich and smooth, with dried fruit, vanilla, crème brûlée and light spice
- Finish: long, warm and elegant
Serving and pairing
Sip neat or with a single ice cube, or use it in an upscale Sidecar or Old Fashioned. Pairs with duck, mushroom dishes, aged cheeses and dark chocolate. Store the bottle upright in a cool, dark place, away from direct sunlight and heat.
