Wrapped in a bold red bottle, Royal is the richer, older step up in the Branson cognac lineup.
What it is
Branson V.S.O.P. Royal is a Very Superior Old Pale cognac bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV) in a 750 ml bottle. V.S.O.P. cognac must be aged at least four years in oak, adding depth and roundness.
Where and how it's made
- Made in the Cognac region of southwestern France, the only place where true cognac can be produced
- Distilled from white wine grapes in copper pot stills and aged in French oak casks
- Presented in a striking teardrop-shaped bottle from Branson, the cognac brand owned by Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson
Tasting notes
- Nose: dried fruit, toasted oak and vanilla with a floral lift
- Palate: round and mellow, with caramel, baked apple, raisin and baking spice
- Finish: long and smooth, with oak and a little candied orange
Serving and pairing
Sip it neat in a snifter or over one large cube, or stir it into a Vieux Carré or a cognac Old Fashioned. Pair with roast duck, aged gouda, dark chocolate or crème brûlée.
