A smooth, honeyed blended Scotch with its heart in Speyside, and one of the best-known 12-year-old whiskies in the world.
What it is
Chivas Regal 12 is a blended Scotch whisky in which every component has been aged at least 12 years. It is bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV) by Chivas Brothers, whose story in Aberdeen dates to 1801.
Where and how it's made
- A blend of malt and grain Scotch whiskies, matured in oak in Scotland
- Strathisla single malt from Speyside sits at the core of the blend, alongside Strathclyde single grain
- Blended for a round, creamy style rather than smoke or peat
Tasting notes
- Nose: heather, wild herbs, honey and ripe orchard fruit
- Palate: creamy and rounded, with honey, vanilla, hazelnut and butterscotch
- Finish: rich, warm and lingering
Serving and pairing
Enjoy it neat, with a splash of water, on the rocks or in a Scotch highball with soda. It works nicely with aged cheddar, roast chicken, smoked salmon or dark chocolate.
