A bright, herbal joven mezcal made from wild-grown cupreata agave in the mountains of Guerrero.
What it is
Amarás Cupreata is a joven (unaged) mezcal bottled at 86 proof (43% ABV) in a 750 ml bottle. It is made from 100% Agave cupreata, a species that grows wild on mountain slopes and takes years to mature.
Where and how it's made
- Made in Guerrero, Mexico
- Agave hearts are roasted in earthen pits, giving mezcal its gentle smoke
- Small-batch artisanal production, bottled unaged to show the character of the agave
Tasting notes
- Nose: green herbs, wet stone, citrus peel and light smoke
- Palate: bright and vegetal, with cooked agave, green pepper and soft smoke
- Finish: long and mineral, with lingering herbs
Serving and pairing
Sip it neat at room temperature with orange slices and sal de gusano, or use it in a mezcal Negroni or Paloma. Pairs with grilled meats, mole, tacos al pastor and fresh cheeses.
