Honeyed, golden and smooth, Aberfeldy 12 is the single malt at the heart of Dewar's.
What it is
Aberfeldy 12 Year Old is a Highland single malt Scotch whisky bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV) in a 750 ml bottle, aged at least twelve years in oak.
Where and how it's made
- Distilled at the Aberfeldy distillery in Perthshire, in the Scottish Highlands, founded by the Dewar family in 1896
- Made from malted barley with water from the Pitilie Burn
- Long fermentation and copper pot stills give the spirit its rich, honeyed style
Tasting notes
- Nose: heather honey, ripe pear, vanilla and a touch of orange peel
- Palate: smooth and rounded, with honeycomb, toffee and gentle spice
- Finish: medium and dry, with soft oak and lingering honey
Serving and pairing
Sip it neat or with a splash of water, or use it in a Highball or Rob Roy. Pair with smoked salmon, roast chicken, aged cheddar or shortbread.
