More than a decade in oak turns 1792's spicy house style into something deep, dark and contemplative.
What it is
1792 Aged Twelve Years is a Kentucky straight bourbon bottled at 96.6 proof (48.3% ABV) in a 750 ml bottle. It is the oldest age statement in the 1792 range, which takes its name from the year Kentucky became a state.
Where and how it's made
- Distilled and aged at Barton 1792 Distillery in Bardstown, Kentucky, the town's oldest fully operating distillery
- Built on the brand's signature high-rye mash bill
- Rested at least twelve years in charred new American white oak before bottling
Tasting notes
- Nose: dark caramel, vanilla bean and cocoa with dried cherry and old oak
- Palate: full and round, with vanilla, milk chocolate and soft orchard fruit giving way to baking spice
- Finish: long and warming, with a gentle smoky char and lingering oak
Serving and pairing
Best poured neat or with a few drops of water so the extra age can open up. Serve it alongside dark chocolate, smoked brisket, aged cheddar or a pecan tart.
