The unaged tequila that started the Don Julio story: bright, crisp and all about the agave.
What it is
Don Julio Blanco is a 100% blue Weber agave tequila, bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV) and rested for no time in barrel, so the character of the plant comes through clearly. Available in 750 ml and 375 ml bottles.
Where and how it's made
- Produced at La Primavera distillery in Atotonilco el Alto, in the highlands of Jalisco, Mexico, where Don Julio González began making tequila in 1942
- Mature agave is slow-cooked in masonry ovens, fermented with the house yeast strain and distilled in copper pot stills
- Blanco is the base spirit for the rest of the Don Julio range
Tasting notes
- Nose: fresh cooked agave with lemon, lime and grapefruit zest
- Palate: light and gently sweet, with agave, herbal notes and a touch of citrus
- Finish: clean and crisp with a soft black-pepper edge
Serving and pairing
Excellent in a classic margarita, a Paloma or a tequila-and-soda with lime, and smooth enough to sip chilled. Pair with ceviche, fish tacos, grilled shrimp or fresh guacamole.
